Sue Ann Sommer, 73, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 after a long and courageous 18 year battle with cancer.
She was born January 26, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Paul E. and Georgia R. (Wells) Norman. She was a graduate of Polytechnic High School, Riverside, California.
Sue was employed by Shawnee County and the State of Kansas, retiring in 2008.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Alma, Kansas.
Sue married Dale Dean Sommer on December 2, 1961 in Las Vegas, NV. They shared 57 years together. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Shari Sommer and husband, Bill Fiander; a son, Michael Sommer and wife, Jackie, all of Topeka; four grandchildren, Christopher Sommer, Taylor Zordel, Camryn Boswell and Cade Boswell; two brothers, Thomas Norman and his wife, Sung, San Francisco, CA and Dan Norman, Colton, CA; and a sister-in-law, Livia Norman, San Antonio, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Norman.
Sue enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and reading.
Honoring Sue's request, cremation is planned. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
