Sumiko Wagner, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at her home. She was born December 14, 1930 in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Genkuro and Fude (Sakurai) Makino.
Sumiko had resided in Topeka since 1974.
She married Irving Wagner, Jr. on September 1, 1960 in Yokohama, Japan. He preceded her in death August 12, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a sister in Japan.
Survivors include her sister, Masako (Kimio) Nihei and her brother, Kazuo Makino, both of Tokyo, Japan and her sister-in-law, Linda K. Avery of Topeka, four nieces, Linda R. Crenshaw of Wichita, KS, Tonia Rice and Thomaset Brown both of Topeka, Tamara Redick of Bristol, VA, and two nephews, Vernon Johnson, III of Topeka and Lonnie D. Wagner, Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
