Teddy Walter Wettengel, 83, of Topeka, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024.
He was born November 18, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Walter and Myrtle (Ronk) Wettengel. He grew up in Oakland and graduated from Topeka High School in 1959. He served in the Marine Corps from 1959-1963.
Ted was employed by the State of Kansas, Kansas Department of Transportation for many years, until retiring.
Ted was a member of the Topeka First Church of the Nazarene.
Ted married Martha “Lucy” Wettengel (Kincade) on July 3, 1964 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2023.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheri (Larry) Brosemer, son, Jerry (Juniper) Wettengel, grandchildren, Danielle, Brandon, Nicholas, Payton, Riley, Cobin, Cameron, and Paisley, 5 great grandchildren, sister, Mary Grant and brother, Bill Wettengel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Tom Wettengel, and sisters, Dixie Flott and Helen Morris.
Ted was an avid Chiefs Football fan. He loved spending time with family especially the grandchildren, loved his dogs, was a firm believer in Happy Wife Happy Life and enjoyed singing in church. Ted was the go-to guy to fix anything, and didn’t expect anything in return.
A Celebration of Life with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2024 at Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St, Topeka, KS. Interment will follow.
