Terry W. "TJ" Johnson passed over to the other side on February 23rd, 2014 surrounded by his family. TJ was born on August 10th in Waco, TX to Ernest William and Lois Johnson and raised in Scranton, Kansas by his loving grandparents Ernest Vernon and Cora Evelyn Johnson. TJ was an excellent student and played basketball while in high school. He was raised on a farm which helped him later in life. He was employed by Santa Fe Railway as a carpenter for over 30 years and loved being a part of and talking about Santa Fe. TJ couldn't go anywhere without knowing someone from Santa Fe as he made many friends during his tenure there. Throughout his life and up until the end he loved to recall many memories and folks he worked with during his days at Santa Fe.
In 1972 he met the love of his life June and they married on May 17th, 1974. They lived in Scranton and near Osage County lake where he tried his hand at farming, recalling skills he learned from growing up on a farm. He raised pigs and had a cow and loved riding his tractor. On March 26, 1972 his son Terry Wayne "TJ" Johnson Jr. was born. On February 23, 1978, his little girl Anna Marie Johnson was born. Then on February 22, 1983 his second son, Ernest Wayne Johnson, was born. After living in Osage County for several years the family moved to the Berryton area. TJ's favorite pastime throughout his life was fishing. His daughter and son were his favorite fishing buddies and he enjoyed teaching them how to fish. To this day they both "skunk" anyone they are fishing with because of the skills their dad taught them. Before his passing he was teaching his grandkids how to fish so his favorite pastime will continue to live on.
TJ was preceded in death by his legal parents Ernest Vernon and Cora Evelyn Johnson, his biological father Ernest William Johnson, his brother Ernest William Johnson JR, and his lab Joe, who was his best buddy and sidekick.
He is survived by his wife June Johnson (and his lab Milo), of the home. His son Terry Wayne "TJ"(Tiffany) Johnson JR of Saint Louis, MO. His daughter Anna Marie(Jeff)Harjo of Topeka, KS and his son Ernest Wayne ( Shawna) Johnson also of Topeka, KS.
He loved spending time with family and especially his grandchildren Gage, Ayden, and Liam. He will be missed by all and remembered for his many jokes and stories. TJ lived life to the fullest, taking many risks, seeming to have nine lives. Although he lost his long battle with cancer he went down swinging and did everything in life "his way"!
