Terry Lee Jordan

March 26, 1939 — September 14, 2016

Terry Lee Jordan, 77, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016.

He was born March 26, 1939, in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Ray Eugene Jordan and Phyllis (Fisher) Champ.

When Terry was 18, he met 13 year old Julie Ann Hopper, and just a year later, they married on April 12, 1958, in Junction City, Kansas. They would spend the next 58 years together claiming their secret was not filing for divorce. They had a firm believing in you must love our loving God in your life and respect each other. They went through a lot over the years including losing two children, Scott in 2002, and Terri in 2016, and also a granddaughter in 2015, but they always held hands, smiled at one another, and pushed forward.

Terry loved his family and his Lord, and his faith in both was everything to him. He always stood behind and believed in Julie and all she did.

He enjoyed reading books all his life and could sit down and have a conversation with anyone. He taught the Flo Menninger Bible Course for many years and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 26 years.

Survivors include wife, Julie; sons, Jonny and Ronny Jordan; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Terri Coburn; and son, Scott Jordan.

To all who cared for Terry, thank you for your love, care, and touch. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. October 6, 2016, at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas 66604. A reception to follow at the church.
