Thane Witmer, 81, died on Friday, October 12, 2018 in Topeka, KS, after a long battle with Parkinson's.
Thane was born on August 19, 1937 in Topeka, KS the son of the late Elston Victor and Mildred (Boyd) Witmer. Thane was owner and operator of the T.V. Clinic repair shop in Oakland for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School and attended Kansas State University. He was also an active member of the community for years including Oakland United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts of America, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Thane is survived by Joyce Witmer, his wife of 50 years; his children Debra Stadel of Wickenburg, AZ; Brad and Mary Sedlacek of Tecumseh KS, Todd and Melody Weller of Tecumseh KS, and Trigg and Trisha Witmer of Shakopee, MN; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Tonya Hansen of Overland Park, KS and Trnac Hamilton of Phoenix, AZ.
Thane was preceded in death by his brother Thair Witmer.
Thane enjoyed traveling and camping, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Honoring Thane's request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SW Minnesota. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
