Thelma B. Shannon

Thelma B. Shannon, 96, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019. She was born June 20, 1923 in Irondequoit, New York, the daughter of Joseph A. and Hazel (Clarke) Forkell.
Thelma graduated from St. Joseph High School and attended college in Rochester, New York. She was employed by Whipps Real Estate Agency and the University of Rochester in New York. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Thelma married Forest Shannon in 1941. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, David L. Shannon on April 16, 2015 and one granddaughter, Thelma Marie Pisani on September 8, 2019.
Survivors include children, Leah E. Cappaletti of Topeka, one granddaughter, Leanne (David) Houser of Topeka, two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Christopher Houser.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. Private inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 S.W. 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
