Theodore James Hamer, age 55, of Denison, Kansas, passed away February 7, 2012. He was born in Chicago, IL to Warren A. and Katherine (Creti) Hamer on Nov. 16, 1956. He attended Basehor Elementary School and graduated from Holton High School in 1976. Theo married Yvonne Hug on May 26, 1978 in Denison, KS.
He was self-employed and was the owner of Hamer's Steel Roofing. He has put metal roofs up all over the northeastern part of the state. Theo was a member of the Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church where he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board and previously served as Sabbath School Treasurer. He was the current Mayor of Denison and served on the city council. Theo loved to work.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne of the home; his daughter Rebecca Kerry and her husband Chris of Topeka; his sons, Michael and his wife Bronwen of Topeka, Matthew of Topeka, Jeremiah and his wife Emily of Palmer Lake, CO, Timothy and his wife Sarah of Holton; his grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, and Levi Kerry, Madison Hamer, Dawson Hamer and Adelyn Hamer; his father Warren Hamer I of Denison; his brother Warren Hamer II and his wife Marianne of Overland Park, KS; and his sisters, Vicki Bastin of Melbourne, FL and Rosemary Diaz of Aurora, IL.
He was preceded in death by his mother Katherine Hamer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church in Denison, KS. Theo's private inurnment will be at a later date.
