Theresa Marie Fraizer Garcia, 78, Carbondale, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus. Theresa was born May 1, 1940, the third born to Thomas Raymond and Whilamina "Helen Marie" Fraizer.
Theresa graduated from Hayden High School and received her RNBSN from St. Mary of the Plains College. Theresa's career was devoted to nursing where she worked in her field for 40 plus years with more than 30 of those years at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joaquin (Bud) Garcia II, her children, Jaime Garcia, Stephanie Smith (Russell), Joaquin (Buddy) Garcia III (Steph), Thomas Garcia (Stacey), and Staci Storey (Clayton); grandchildren, Bryan Smith (Lacy), Scott Garcia (Denise), Kylie Ollarzabal (Jose), Joaquin (Jack) Garcia IV (Jody), Jordan Garcia (Allison), Taylor Garcia, Michael Garcia, Sidney Storey, Delaney Garcia, Adam Storey, Caden Garcia, Kinsey Garcia; great grandchildren, Brody Smith, Hally Smith, Ian Garcia, Presly Smith, Scott E Garcia, Alexia Garcia, Audrina Garcia, Gemma Garcia, Rylan Ollarzabal, Calvin Garcia and sibling Mary Schwieso (Duaine). She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas Fraizer.
Theresa met the love of her life when she was only 16 years old. They wed two years later and quickly began building their family in Topeka. The family of seven later moved into the Carbondale community where she lived in their home for nearly 50 years.
Throughout her life, nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her family. Theresa's house was always busy with loved ones coming and going and her phone was always ringing with children and grandchildren on the other end looking forward to hearing her famous, "helloooo", as she answered the call. Theresa enjoyed playing games of all types and could occasionally be caught helping others win at her own expense, taking weekly trips to area garage sales in search of her next set of treasures or getting lost for hours in one of her many novels. Her family often referred to her as, "Mother Theresa" which was a true reflection of who she was. Theresa was a woman of strong faith, who loved the Lord. She had a loving, generous, caring and forgiving heart for all. She was one of a kind and will be missed dearly, but will live on through our fond memories, her family, and all those she touched throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, located at 3700 Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610.
