Thomas Anderson Kinter, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 in Garland, TX. He was born on May 31, 1927 in Banning, CA, the son of Glen E. and Jessie L. Patterson Kinter. He had resided in Topeka since 1938. Thomas was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was employed at the VA Hospital in Topeka for a short period of time. He then was employed as an Activities Therapist by the Menninger Foundation for 38 years before retiring in 1989. Thomas married Wilma C. Gunter on May 26, 1951 in Fair Grove, MO. She preceded him in death on September 26, 1991. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Christina Bomhoff and two sisters, Bernice Matthews and Donna Sample. Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia and her husband, Stephen Johnson of Garland, TX, three grandchildren, Tana Barndollar, David Johnson and Erin Johnson, two nieces and three nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Thomas will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
