Thomas Edward Christopher, 82, Topeka, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
He was born Aug. 29, 1925 in Rosemead, CA, the son of Charles Edward and Winnie Wallace Ford Christopher. He was raised in Alhambra, CA, where he attended high school. He also attended Pasadena Junior College and Texas A&M University.
From Sept., 1943 to Feb., 1946, he served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps with a rank of 2nd Lt.
He worked for John Morrell and later as a regional vice-president for Pacific Internmountain Express Freight Lines. He retired in 1983 in Omaha, NE, after 32 years of service. He came to Topeka in 1991
He married Carole Mull on Oct. 25, 1946 in Whittier, CA. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Ann Shivers and husband, David of Topeka, a son, Thomas Lynn Christopher and wife, Susan of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Michele Shivers Holley, Matthew Shivers, Melissa Shivers Martin, Mark Shivers, Karley Christopher Williams, Kristina Christopher, and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. Private inurnment will be on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka, KS.
