Thomas H. Lambert, 81 died at his home January 5, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Lambert was born January 22, 1924 in Ringold, Oklahoma. He was the son of John and lone Lambert. He moved to Texas with his family when he was four years old.
Mr. Lambert served in the South Pacific during WWll. He served in the Phillipines, New Guinea, and Occupied Japan. He was a medic wtth the Army Medical Corps. He was a lifetime member ofVFW Post #1650.
After the war, he spent the rest of his life in Topeka working as a professional painter. He worked on a number of prominent homes and buildings in Topeka including the restoration of the old Jayhawk Hotel. He was also instrumental in getting health insurance for the painter's union.
Following retirement, he and his wife, Millie, enjoyed RV traveling and NASCAR races. He was a great fan of Dixieland Jazz. Mr. Lambert was a member of First Congregational Church.
He married Maxine Baldwin on October 16, 1948. She died November 21, 1984. He married Mildred Ice on March 20, 1986. She survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judy Lambert and Janice Millbum of Topeka, one son, Jim Lambert of Ohio, and two step-daughters, Cindy Cooper and husband Craig, and Connie Ice and husband Don Bartley. He was preceded in death by his daughter Janine Lambert and two grandsons, David Harden and Cory Cooper. Other survivors include three grandsons, Tom, Daniel and James Millbum of Topeka, one granddaughter, Mindy Harden, two step-grandsons, Dan Cooper and Adam Price, one step granddaughter, Kelly Price Barnes, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Billie Johnson, .California.
Services will be Monday at 1 PM at First Congregational Church. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends and Family will gather at the church following the cemetery service.
