Thomas Munk

Thomas Paul Munk, 85, Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Midland Hospice House.

Tom was born March 12, 1931 in Racine, WI, the son of Paul and Irene Munk. His family moved to Topeka in 1943. He graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn University.

He was President of Shawnee Federal Savings, Executive Vice President of Garnett Savings & Loan and was a realtor with Coldwell Banker, Griffith & Blair. He was past President of Downtown Topeka, Inc., and Topeka Lutheran School Association.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking and building model airplanes.

He married Lucile Senne on March 15, 1952 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Topeka. His wife of 64 years survives. Other survivors include daughters, Tracy Munk, Pearland, TX, Susan (Steve) Reese, Topeka; son, Scott (Sheila) Munk, Shawnee; grandchildren, Laura, Ryan and Jared Munk; and brother, James Munk, Temple, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant grandson, Brett Munk

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Midland Care Hospice.
