Tim D. Riddle

June 28, 1948 — September 25, 2020

Timothy (Tim) Darrow Riddle, 72, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

Tim was born in Canon City, Colorado, on June 28, 1948, to Dorothy Lou (Darrow) Riddle of Topeka. Tim attended Washburn Rural High School and served in the Kansas National Guard from May, 1966 through May, 1972. Tim was married to Linda (Sherbenou) Riddle on November 28, 1970, and they have one daughter, Jennifer Hermann (Brian Hermann).

Tim joined the Topeka Fire Department in 1970 and served 29 years, retiring in 1999. Being a firefighter was Tim's greatest accomplishment and honor. He was a willing participant in all the joys, hurts, antics, and comradery of the job.

After retiring from the fire department, Tim continued to serve others through his work with A&A Medical Transport and then Stormont-Vail Hospital of Topeka. Tim was a helper and a giver; frequently going to great lengths to provide or procure whatever was needed to reduce or alleviate another's suffering.

Tim had many interests and passions throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting pheasant and waterfowl over many a good bird dog. He enjoyed antiques, particularly antique toys, and traveled the United States buying and selling pieces. Tim and his wife, Linda, rode motorcycles and took several trips to Colorado and the Sturgis Bike Rally. Later in life, Tim got into classic cars and enjoyed coffee shop chats and Cruise Nights with his car buddies.

One interest that Tim held throughout his life was music. He shared his love of music with Linda, his daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law Brian, attending numerous concerts and festivals together through the years. Many of the most precious memories Tim's family have of him revolve around their shared love of music.

Tim is survived by his spouse, Linda, his daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Brian. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Lou, and his younger brother, James Riddle.

Cremation has taken place and no public memorial services are planned.
