Toan Cong Nguyen, 69, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021.
He was born October 31, 1951, in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, the son of Ba Thu and Thi My Nguyen.
He received a Bachelor's Degree from the Pittsburg University in Kansas.
He served in the Vietnamese Military during the Vietnam War working with the United States Military.
Toan was employed by the University of Kansas for more than 20 years prior to retirement.
Toan married Billie JoAnn McMaster on August 10, 1976 in Topeka. They spent 44 wonderful years together.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Nguyen of Topeka; his siblings, My T. Nguyen, Thang C. Nguyen, Tuoi T. Nguyen, Thuan Q. Nguyen, Trung N. Nguyen, Trinh N. Nguyen, Tuan Q. Nguyen, Thanh Nguyen Duong, Tin Q. Nguyen, Thuy K. Nguyen, Tien Q. Nguyen, Trang K. Nguyen, and Thuy K. Nguyen; two sister-in-laws, Candy Phifer and Betty Nelson and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Toan enjoyed gardening, traveling, live music and dancing but most of all spending time with his family.
Honoring Toan's request, cremation is planned. Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610 is assisting the family.
In lieu of cut flowers live plants are preferred.
