Trudy Ann Gift, 65, passed away on November 09, 2011, at her home in Austin, Texas. She was born on September 25, 1946, in Yakima, Washington, to Harry and Alice (Fisher) Coiner. She spent much of her childhood near Washington, Kansas. They lived in Maine and Wyoming before settling in Alma, Kansas.
Trudy worked as a dispatcher at the Wabaunsee County Courthouse in Alma, Kansas, and eventually became the Wabaunsee County Deputy Sheriff in the mid 1970's. She ended her working career as a Corrections Counselor and Instructor at the Work Release Center in Topeka, Kansas; where she taught inmates life skills and led the Stop Violence program. Trudy was an intelligent and independent thinker who enjoyed keeping up with current events. She loved her family, drives in the country, pampering her dogs, a rescued kitten, and Blue Bell Ice Cream.
She is survived by her daughters, RonDee Klataske of Austin, Texas, and Kimberly (Edoardo Rovatti) Klataske of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Olympia Rovatti, Austin, Texas, who brought so much joy to her last few years of life; two sisters: Betty (Dennis Sr.) Ensley of Topeka, Kansas and Carol (Walt) Wissman of Scranton, Kansas. Also surviving are niece Laura (Michael) Eddy of Harlingen, Texas; two nephews: Dennis (Denise) Ensley, Jr. of Topeka, Kansas, and Mark (Jane) Dettmann of Burlingame, Kansas, plus four great nieces, one great nephew and many cousins.
A service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
