Twila Sue Simon

September 5, 1937 — September 23, 2014

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Twila Sue (Hill) Simon is announcing her passing on September 23rd 2014. Twila was seventy-seven years old.

Twila was the 6th child born to Riley and Helen (Brite) Hill. She spent most of her growing up years in Leon and Madison Kansas. Twila graduated from Madison High School in 1955. She attended Emporia State University.

After leaving Emporia she moved to Wichita and met the love of her life Gene Simon. They were married in Wichita on August 1st 1959. Twila and Gene engaged in a wonderful life together, they were the best of friends and enjoyed life to fullest. They opened and operated a very successful advertising agency, Simon Advertising, for 37 years in Topeka.

In 1965, Twila gave birth to their son Jerry he was and is the light of her and Gene's life. In 1994 Jerry married Teresa and from their marriage they became grandparents to Ayrick, Rachael and Annie, and if you knew anything about Twila you know they were the absolute love of her life. She loved taking the ladies to "girls' day out."

Twila was a great bridge player and golfer and let's not forget how much she loved her KU Jayhawk basketball! Do you wonder if those players could hear her yelling at them? She loved to be in the spot light (Annie carries that tradition) and in the early 90's she started her own "Twila Tuesday" karaoke business. She was very successful and had a large following. "Twila Tuesday" at Bogey's was the place to be. (Do you remember where you were on Tuesdays?)

She is greatly missed by her family and her friends; however we know she is with family that preceded her: husband Gene Simon, son Joseph Simon, her parents Riley and Helen Hill, siblings Clyde, Bubba, and Peggy.

Last but not least, she is mourned by her son Jerry and his wife Teresa, their children Ayrick, Rachael, Annie, and great-grandchildren Avery and Alek. We don't want to forget her sisters who meant so much to her Jane Norvell (Phoenix AZ) and Helen Schroeder (El Dorado KS.)

This Sunday, September 24th, we are celebrating Twila's life at Twenty's West, 901 Fairlawn, from 2 to 4pm. Please wear your KU RED & BLUE and BLING.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Grace Hospice, or S.C.A.R.S animal rescue (scarsusa.com).
