Ural S. Johnson

Ural S. "US" Johnson, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016. He was born February 23, 1942 in Stephens, Arkansas, the son of Johnny and Ruby (Robinson) Johnson.
Ural received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He graduated from Emporia High School and attended Emporia State University. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Tyson Construction Company in Emporia and JFK Construction Company in Topeka for many years.
Ural married Tina Y. Fulton on October 23, 2008 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include children, Tyree Johnson, Keven Benbow, Kelley Bafford, LaRonce Johnson and DeAndre Johnson, nine grandchildren and his siblings, Norma (Freeman) Crawford, Lois Ray, Clozell Rosario and Linda Sue Reynolds. Also surviving are special people in his life, Gary Adams, Reverend James Kirtdoll, Shakila Pleasant, KaTrece Johnson and a special son, Tavious Pleasant.
US was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Ruby Johnson and his grandparents.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where Military Honors will be presented by the Kansas Army National Guard. Private interment will take place at a later date.
Ural will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the funeral home.
