Velma B. Miller, 86, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Midland Hospice House.
Velma was born June 15, 1921 in Lawrence, Kansas the daughter of Ervin and Nancy (Junkins) Hess. She was residing in Lawrence when she married Orland Miller on October 19, 1951. They moved to Stockton, Missouri in 1972 and resided there until 1993 when they moved to the Topeka area.
Her husband preceded her in death on May 23, 1997. Survivors include sons: Richard Miller and wife, Kristin, Larry Miller and wife, Sheryl, Gary Miller, all of Topeka; daughter, Judy Hasty, Mayetta; fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was a devoted full time wife and mother and dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a lover of cats. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Velma will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
