Venice Clark

Venice Clark, 89, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at her residence.

Venice was born November 16, 1919 in Scipio, UT, the daughter of Albert and Chloe (Memmott) Peterson.

She worked for several grocery stores as a meat wrapper, retiring from Harry's IGA in 1979.

She was a member of West Side Christian Church, where she participated in the Thursday Bible Study, and the China Painters Guild. She delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Salvation Army. She was well known for her generosity.

Venice married Don L. Clark on January 30, 1942. He died April 21, 1994. Survivors include daughters, Diane (Gary) Jacques, Topeka, Mary (Floyd) Cloud, Linwood; grandchildren, Kim Moran, Kris Burnham, Kellie Bartow, Eric Jacques, Amy Christian, Jacob Cloud, Justin Cloud, Cody Cloud; great-grandchildren, Christian Moran, Mariah Moran, Amanda Burnham, Alex Burnham, Conlin Bartow, Chelsea Bartow, Savannah Aulton, Braiden Cloud, Kylie Christian, Alyssa Christian, Megin Jacques, Magi Jacques, Lyric Cloud, Brianna Cloud, Kenny Cloud; and brother, Dale Peterson, Fillmore, UT. She was preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Aulton; and brothers, Doug Peterson and Kolan Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. Venice will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Friday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
