Verda Ann (Butterfield) Pinger, 84, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016. She was born October 13, 1931 in Bell Tower, Montana, the daughter of Ivan Ellis and Opal Garda (Head) Butterfield. She was a graduate of Lynch High School, Lynch, Nebraska.
Verda was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone in Topeka, retiring in 1987.
Verda married George Pinger on March 2, 1956 in Topeka. They lived in Harlingen, Texas from 1992 to Nov. 2008. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2010. Survivors include daughters, Denise (Steve) Jeanneret, Cindy (Jeremy) McDowell; son-in-law, Ted Decker; grandchildren, Thad Decker (Cathy), Darci Webster, Stephanie Slack; great-grandchildren, Trisha Decker, Julian Slack, Brylee Slack, Archer Webster and Freya Webster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Lynette Decker.
Verda enjoyed scrapbooking, spending time with her family and her dog, Lady.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave, Topeka. A visitation will be held for one hour following the service.
