Verl E. Cox, 85, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Midland Hospice House.
Verl was born June 25, 1935 in Hepler, KS, the son of William and Florence (Westoff) Cox. He graduated from Pleasanton High School. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 9 years.
He was employed by Hallmark Cards for 37 years, retiring as Maintenance Supervisor in March of 1993.
Verl enjoyed tinkering and restoring old tractors and anything woodworking.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and enjoyed having coffee with several groups of friends.
Verl married Gail Goebel on September 21, 1957 in Mound City at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His wife of 62 years survives. Other survivors include sons, Rocky (Leina) Cox, Topeka, Kelly Cox, Loveland, OH; daughter, Tina Cox, Kansas City, MO; 4 grandchildren, Ty (Liz) Cox, Paul (Amanda) Cox, Hannah Cox, William "Willie" Wesley Cox; 4 great-grandchildren, Carter, Elise, Wyatt and Kinley Cox and siblings, Loren (Ruth) Cox, Jeanette (Howard) Searl and William (Myrtle) Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Herman Cox, Willard Cox, Fred Cox, J.C. Cox and Loretta Rittinghouse.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.
