Verlyn J. Geiken
Verlyn J. "Guy" Geiken, 73, of Berryton, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Colmery- O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka. He was born May 19, 1938 in Lennox, SD, the son of Tenius and Sadie Geiken.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was a carpenter in the construction field for over 30 years before retiring from John Sack Construction. Guy married Evelyn A. Armbrust on March 28, 1958 in Wamego. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2005. He later married Betty A. Misegadis on December 11, 2006. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Rick L. (Terri) Geiken of Topeka, Tammi J. (Jed) Fraker of Olathe, grandchildren, Curtis, Brett and Jessi Geiken of Topeka, Miranda and Nick Sims of Olathe and Paige and Taylor Fraker of Overland Park.
As per Guy's wishes, dress attire can remain casual.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Lynn Creek Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Guy will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
