Vern Vigil Peterson, 87, Topeka, was killed in an automobile accident October 10, 2005, on Highway 75 near Hoyt, KS. Mr. Peterson, son of Carl Ellveaux and Mary Ellen Johnson Peterson, was born August 15, 1918, in Dodge Center, MN.
He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve from 1941-1953. He attended the University of Kansas following World War II and established an office machines business in Lawrence. Mr. Peterson had been a resident of Topeka for nearly forty years.
He was kind and independent, intelligent and creative, a talented musician who loved to play the ukulele and sing. He did what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted, and where he wanted.
Mr. Peterson is survived by a son, Dana G. Peterson, Williams, AZ; three daughters, Donna R. Gibson, Frankfort, KY; Dori A. Miller, Verona, KY; Dyla K. Love, Lawrence, and friend and companion Virginia Radford, Horton; two grandsons, one step-grandson, four granddaughters, three great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and one brother, Glen Burns Peterson.
Mr. Peterson will be buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
