Verne L. Oswald, Jr., 60, of Larkspur, CO, formerly of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at Castle Rock, CO, care facility.
He was born October 8, 1951 in Topeka, the son of Verne and Elva Dean Thomas Oswald. Verne graduated from Highland Park High School in 1969 and attended Washburn University. He served as Director of Project Management for various energy plants, most recently for Southwest Generation in Denver. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local No. 165 and Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka and Faith Lutheran Church in Castle Rock. Verne married Laurie Reierson on August 30, 1986 in Pollock, SD. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Taylor Jamison Oswald of Sterling, KS, Dillon Matthew Oswald of Larkspur, CO, his mother, Elva Dean (Gene) Smith of Iola, KS, one brother, Mike (Leah) Oswald of Iola, one sister, Cindy (Brad) Hesse of Iola, and six nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Verne will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., in Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
