Viola M. Rakosky, 93, Topeka, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at Midland Hospice House. She was born on May 30, 1914 in Erie, PA, the daughter of Frank and Mary DelGecio Como.
Viola attended school in Muskegon, MI where she resided for 30 years. She then moved to Fort Smith, AR where she lived until 1986 at which time she moved to Topeka. She belonged to the Elk's Club and was a member of the Women's Circle at St. Matthew's Church.
Viola was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time sewing, ceramics, shopping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Darleen Blevins, Topeka; a son, Jerry (Carol Ann) Rakosky, Edmond, OK; Grandchildren, Kelly Rae(Richard) Lee; Krista (Todd) Kruggel of Topeka; Michelle (Davy) Pierce; Jerry (Kathy) Rakosky; Shane Rakosky; David Rakosky and Ashley Rakosky of Edmond, OK; Great-Grandchildren, Samantha Rae and Thompson Kruggel of Topeka; Garrett, Carter and Sutton Pierce; Noah and Seth Rakosky of Edmond, OK; Sisters, Cora, Vera and Jennie; and Brother, Frank.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband , Gerhman "Jim" of 69 years, a daughter, Bobbie Sue Rakosky and her sister Fannie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Viola will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. followed by a visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
