Virgil T. Dreiling, 89, Topeka, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Midland Hospice House.
Virgil was born September 23, 1917 in Walker, the son of Peter N. and Anna (Schumacher) Dreiling.
He was a graduate of Maur Hill and the University of Notre Dame with graduate work at Georgetown University.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was retired from the Division of Personnel Services, Kansas Department of Administration after 42 years of service.
He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church.
He was married to Betty E. Fager. She survives. He was preceded in death by an older brother, J. Alvin, a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria. Burial will follow at St. Fidelis Cemetery. Virgil will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the service. Cline Funeral Home in Victoria is assisting the family with arrangements in Victoria.
