Virgil M. Reese, 91, of Tecumseh, KS, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Homestead of Topeka. He was born October 2, 1924 in McLouth, KS, the son of Charles O. and Myrtle (Lobb) Reese.
Virgil was employed by the Santa Fe Railway for over 35 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church.
Virgil married Imogene Queen on December 28, 1946 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2011. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Orville Reese, Thelma Sarge and Velma Rosvall.
Survivors include one son, Steven (Susan) Reese of Topeka, four daughters, Linda Durand of Valley Falls, KS, Nancy (Mike) Goodwin of Topeka, Pam (Marty) Gies of Tecumseh, Debbie (Mike) Worthington of Tecumseh, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, twin brother, Vernon Reese, brother, Marlin (Frances) Reese and one sister, Lucille Michaels.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery at Silver Lake. Virgil will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the funeral home.
