Virginia Aspegren, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born May 27, 1934 in Ottawa, the daughter of Adrian and Isabel Lopez Espinosa. She resided in Topeka for most of her life.
She was employed as a supervisor for the State of Kansas for 30 years before retiring. Virginia married Eugene F. Aspegren on July 27, 1972. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2005.
Survivors include her three sons, Louis E. Charay of Kansas City, KS, David Aspegren and Duane Aspegren, both of Topeka, one granddaughter, Jayla L. Charay, eight sisters, Carmen Hernandez of Kansas City, MO, Carolyn Gomez of Topeka, Pauline Vendejas and Juanita Cardiff, both of Kansas City, MO, Clara Espinosa of Austin, TX, Josephine Garcia and Ethel Garcia, both of Lawrence, and Angie Ortiz of San Antonio, TX. Virginia was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip and two sisters, Betty and Mary.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Virginia will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
