Virginia M. Morris, 86, Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Virginia was born April 13, 1928 in Topeka, the daughter of Virgil and Bessie (Beckley) Thompson. She attended Topeka High School.
She worked for Cappers Weekly and was also an Avon representative. After her son was born, she became a full time homemaker. She and George enjoyed attending their son's and grandchildren's sporting events.
Virginia married George Morris on June 5, 1947 in Topeka. He died December 21, 2011. Survivors include son, Larry (Lori) Morris, Topeka; grandchildren, Ryan (Anne) Morris, Michelle Morris, Kelsey Drake and Austin Drake. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
