Virginia Sailors, 93, died on Thursday, March 22, 2012 in Topeka, Kansas.
Mrs. Sailors, a third generation native Topekan, was born in 1918. She was the daughter of Walter William and Lillian Ford Davis.
Mrs. Sailors was graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn University. She
taught Latin, history, English and home economics in Elmdale, Kansas before becoming a life-long homemaker. She was an active member of Topeka's First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, a Circle leader and president of Capital City Mariners. She was also an active member of Extension Homemakers Unit. Mrs. Sailors was known for her gardening and her baking skills. Her pies, cakes and cookies delighted her family and friends.
Mrs. Sailors was married to Gordon Byron Sailors in May 1941 who preceded her in death in December 2011. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Karen Wagner.
Mrs. Sailors is survived by her son, Gordie Sailors and wife Paula Kellogg of Perry; a daughter Elizabeth Durham and companion Joe Del Balso, Mountain Top, Pa; five grandchildren, Michelle Sailors, Tony Sailors and his wife Julie Sailors; Molly Sailors, Daniel Sailors and Jordan Durham; and two great grandchildren, William and Christopher Musterman.

A joint memorial service for Mr. & Mrs. Sailors will be held at 10:30AM on July 28, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison in Topeka, Kansas
