Virginia L. Szabo

Virginia L. Szabo, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 at McCrite Plaza in Topeka. She was born May 6, 1931 in Topeka, the daughter of Raymond D. and Edna D. (Lynn) Hughes.

Virginia graduated from Topeka High School in 1949. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.

Virginia married Edward J. Szabo on May 19, 1962 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald R. Hughes on November 16, 2006. 

Survivors include two sisters, Lynda Bingham of Topeka, Karen Hughes of Topeka, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Graveside services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Auburn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Prairie Wind Hospice, 1031 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66604 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
