Vivian Lawrence Newell, 90, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Aldersgate Village.
She was born April 22, 1915 in Meriden, Kansas the daughter of Alva B. and Velma E. Dellinger Lawrence.
Mrs. Newell was employed as a school lunch manager for U.S.D. 501.
She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Highland Park United Methodist Quilters. She served as an active volunteer with I-CARE and Let's Help.
Vivian married Harold D. Newell November 4, 1936 in Salina. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Survivors include, two sons, Harold Newell, Jr. and his wife Virginia, Topeka; Lawrence Newell and his wife Lisha, Apache Junction, AZ; four grandsons, Richard Newell, Anthony, NM; Jeffrey Newell, Plano, TX; Derek Newell, Emeryville, CA; Jason Newell, Topeka; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am ,Friday, December 30, at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Newell will lie in state after 1:00pmThursday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
