Wallace G. Kennedy, 92, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Presbyterian Manor in Topeka. He was born December 02, 1913 south of Stull in Douglas County, the son of Roy and Mary Tucker Kennedy. He grew up and attended school in the Fairview District. He began his farming career at the age of 14, and farmed until he was 85. Wallace was married to Violet E. Kampschroeder on January 26, 1938. She passed away October 12, 2003.
Survivors include one son, Gailand and his wife Marcia, Berryton; two daughters, Connie Kennedy of Florida, and Karen Parker, and her husband Jim, Topeka. Also surviving is one grandson, Garry and three great-grandchildren, Nichole Potts and her husband Trevor, Brandon and Dustin Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother Richard, a sister, Georgia Kennedy, and a granddaughter, Kimberley Kay Kennedy.
The loves of his life were farming and going to dances with his wife of 65 years, and talking to his great-grandchildren during their visits.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Kennedy will lie in state after noon Tuesday at the funeral home, where friends may meet with family from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening.
