Walter J. Bradshaw, 74, Topeka, passed away at home on Monday, September 13, 2021. He left this earth surrounded by his loving family.
Walt was born June 25, 1947, in Manhattan, the son of Joseph and Doris (Berry) Bradshaw. He graduated from Manhattan High School in 1965 and attended Kansas State University, Kaw Area Technical College and Washburn University.
He served in the Kansas Army National Guard and was activated with the 69th Brigade and served in Vietnam. Walt was a member of American Legion Post 400.
He was employed at U.S. Supply Company/Ferguson Enterprises for over 35 years.
Walt was a man who knew no stranger, was ready for an easy conversation and more than likely to share a joke. His hand was always outstretched to be of help. He and Lynn frequented Post 400 and other dance venues and he was known for his smooth moves on the dance floor. Walt loved to travel, especially to national parks in the US and beaches abroad. Above all, Walt's greatest joy in life was in taking care of his wife, children and grandchildren and spending time with them.
Walt married the love of his life, Lynn Sutherland on March 21, 1969, in Miami, OK. His wife of 52 years survives. Other survivors include son, Ben (Megan) Bradshaw; daughter Suzannah (Greg) Martin, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Trey (Jess) Bradshaw, Sydney (Maddie) Bradshaw, Eli Anderson; brother, David Bradshaw; sister, Beth Bradshaw. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved granddaughter, Olivia Anderson.
Cremation has taken place and the Celebration of Walt's Life will begin at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
