Walter James Graber, 74, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021.
He was born March 14, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Walter Jacob and Helen (Gordon) Graber. He was a graduate of Topeka High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Walter was employed by Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka for over 40 years, retiring in 2006.
Walter married Gayla Burwell on August 21, 2014 in Colorado Springs, CO. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include Gayla's children, Stephanie Burwell of Kansas City, KS, Brian (Courtney) Burwell of Shawnee, KS and their children, Avery, Bryndal and Tripp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Graber; and his sister, Roleen Youngs.
Walter enjoyed bird hunting, traveling, working and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. No services are scheduled. Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
