Walter M. Thompson, 75, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1931 in Topeka, the son of Roy J. and Ruth Koci Thompson. He graudated from Auburn High School in 1949. Walter was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at the Pauline Co-Op for several years and retired from Roach Hardware at S.E. 29th & California in 1995. Walter married Wilma A. Schweizer Stukey on June 4, 1967 in Auburn. She survives. Other survivors include two step-children, James Stukey of Burlington and Penny Bayless and husband, Kirk of Topeka, three grandchildren, Nicole, Cory, Cody and three great-grandchildren, Dymend, Alycia and Nichalas. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Allen. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Graveside committal services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Quisling Cemetery, LeRoy, KS. Walter will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W.
