Walter C. McConnell, Sr., 83, of Topeka, died Monday, December 20, 2004 at his residence. He was born on October 26, 1921 in Marked Tree, Arkansas, the son of Edward and Inez Garrett McConnell. He attended Topeka public schools. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was employed by the State of Kansas before retiring. He married Annie Teague. They were divorced. He married Victoria Glass. They were divorced. Survivors include two sons, Walter McConnell, Jr. of Topeka, David McConnell of Tecumseh, Ks., four daughters, Paula Brim of Tecumseh, Ks., Nancy McConnell, Mary McConnell and Betty Farr all of Topeka, two step-sons, Howard Dawson ,and Gregory Dawson , both of Topeka, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters, Paralee White of Topeka, Tessie Williams of Gary, Indiana and Edna Tuner of Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles McConnell. Cremation will take place. Private inurnment will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Ks. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel was in charge of arrangements
