Wanda I. Russell Hartman, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Oct. 22, 2008. She was born on July 6, 1930 in Neosho, MO, the daughter of Hershel and Thelma Walthall Russell. Wanda had resided in Topeka since 1941 and attended Topeka High School. She was a member of Women's Auxillary of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion. Wanda also volunteered at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center and Captiol Post No. 1 of the American Legion. Wanda married James J. Hartman on December 28, 1964 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Russell and one sister, Dora Lou Winn. Survivors include one sister, Janice Westphal of Des Moines, IA and two brothers, Dennis Russell and Dean Russell of Topeka. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Burial will follow. Wanda will lie in state from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
