Warren E. Granger of Topeka, Kansas, died August 13, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born August 10, 1923 at Harlan, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Irene Pruett Granger. He has resided in Topeka since 1924 and attended Topeka schools. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served three years in the Navy Armed Guard. He worked for the ATSF Railroad for 38 years as a stationary fireman and engineer.
He married Ardith Russell in Topeka on November 2, 1946. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Nancy Appelhanz (Ted) and Tom Granger; three grandchildren, Kimberly Bachelor (Alex), Tonya Flores (Pepe), Matthew Appelhanz (Darcy); seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Lilly, San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne.
He was a member of the University United Methodist Church serving as Sunday School Supt. over 35 years and volunteered with Boy Scout Troop #10 serving as an assistant scoutmaster. He was a member of the US Navy Armed Guard WWII veteran's organization. He was extremely proud of his service to his country.
Services will be held at University United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. The inurnment will be private at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
