Warren G. Kinder, 98, of Topeka, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021.
He was born April 10, 1923, in Rantoul, Kansas, the son of James N. and Margaret (Weinstein) Kinder. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School. Warren was a World War II veteran, serving three years in India as a Staff Sargent with the 886 Signal Company, U.S. Army Air Corp.
Warren was employed as a cement mason for nearly fifty years and ended his career working for J.A. Tobin, Paving Contractor (Kansas City), retiring in 1992. He was a member of Operative Plasterers' & Cement Masons Local 518.
Warren married Helen L. Firestone on August 5, 1941 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2004. Survivors include two sons, Kim A (Cathy) Kinder of Topeka and Steven W. (Judith) Kinder of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald W. Kinder; five sisters, Ruby Morgan, Gladys Welton, Aileen McElroy, Blanche Phipps, and Bernice Stalons; and eight brothers, Walter, Raymond, Clarence, Robert, Floyd, Orville, James Jr., and Lawrence Kinder.
In the late 50's and throughout the 1960's, Warren taught square dance lessons and performed as a caller for several square dancing clubs and conventions in Kansas and Oklahoma.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, September 27, 2021 at Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka.
A funeral ceremony will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore St., Topeka Kansas. The family will receive friend an hour prior to the service. Interment military honors will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka.
