Wayne E. Hill, 89, Topeka, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at a local hospital.
Wayne was born January 27. 1923 in Walbach, NE., the son of Owen W. and Maudie E. (Harmon) Hill. He graduated from high school and attended a trade school for 4 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank driver in northern France and central Europe.
He worked as a Maintenance Engineer and Supervisor in the Shawnee County Courthouse for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 391 in Richland.
Wayne married Beverlie "Maga" Viner on March 1, 1980. She died March 7, 2001. Survivors include step-daughters, Karen Sumner, Auburn, Mary Lou Farr, Texas; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
