Wayne Edward Corbin, 68, Lecompton, passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence. Wayne was born on May 13, 1937 in Burlington, Kansas, son of Vernie 'Pete' and Helen Corbin. Wayne worked 33 years at Goodyear in Topeka, retiring in 1998. He served in the Kansas National Guard for 8 years. Wayne married Beverly Weide, October 4, 1958 in Yates Center, Kansas. The couple moved to the Topeka area in 1965, then moved to their present home at Lecompton in 1970.
The surviviors include his wife Beverly of the home, sons; Jerry and his wife Kim of Lecompton; Steve and his wife Kerry of Topeka; daughters; Becky Ewy and her husband Chuck, Neosho Rapids, and Cindy Johnston of Lecompton. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren; 2 brothers; Norman Corbin of Topeka, and Jim Corbin of Gridley.
Funeral services will be held at Big Springs United Methodist Church on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Eastview Cemetery in Big Springs. Wayne will lie in state after 2 pm Thursday at Penwell Gabel Southeast Chapel where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm that evening.
