Wayne F. Guth

March 16, 1943 — January 5, 2021

Wayne F. Guth, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. He was born March 16, 1943 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Francis and Dorothy (Dorman) Guth.

Wayne graduated from Wamego High School and attended Colorado State University. He was a Navy Veteran and was very proud of his time in the service as a Radarman. Wayne was an officer and owner of American Tax Service with his son, Kurt. Early in his life Wayne started and was involved with many businesses in Topeka and Manhattan, including nightclubs, custom van manufacturing, floorcovering, and, finally, an accounting and tax firm.

He enjoyed all things technological, supporting his younger son as he played music in and around town, spending time with his grandson, and hanging out with his brothers. Wayne loved being engaged in conversation with others and sharing his amazing stories. He highly valued scientific research, life-long learning, family loyalty, and was generous with his time and wisdom for anyone who needed it.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Diane J. Swartzman, whom he married on February 12, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma. He is survived by his children, Kurt (Beth) Guth of Auburn, Kansas, and Jarrod Guth of Topeka, Kansas, and one grandson, Maxwell. He is also survived by his step-mother, Dorothy (Bosse Schwandt) Guth of Wamego, Kansas and his siblings, Jim (Barb) Guth of Poinciana, Florida, David (Kathy) Guth of Lawrence, Kansas and Danny (Dennice) Guth of Manhattan, Kansas. Other survivors include his many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Wayne's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
