Wayne Joyce McClelland, 74, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014.
He was born February 1, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Walter Irving "Red" McClelland and Amanda (Joyce) McClelland Sharpe. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School.
Mr. McClelland was employed by the Owl Drug Store, Menninger's and for Kansas Gas Service in Topeka until retiring in February of 2001.
He was a member Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
Wayne married Emma Wright. They were divorced. He is survived by his lifetime companion, Jacqueline B. Lewis; four children, Stephanie McClelland Edwards, Stuart McClelland, Lisa Lewis and Sidney Lewis, all of Topeka; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Johnson; and five brothers, Dan McClelland, Ronald McClelland, Jerome Joyce, Terry (Patricia) Joyce, all of Topeka and Robert McClelland of Florida. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Nichols and a loving aunt, Daneva Chambers.
Wayne was an avid farmer, cattleman and enjoyed collecting antiques.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 610 SE Lime, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka.
