Wayne Joseph Wasson, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was born November 30, 1938 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, the son of Andrew and Mildred Elizabeth (Haley) Wasson, Sr.
Wayne graduated from Kennett High School, 1956 and earned a Master's Degree in Science from Marshall University. He was employed by the United States Department of Labor as a Supervisor for Mine Safety & Health Administration, Metal and Non-Metal before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion, ACLU, Sierra Club, Air Force Museum, New Hampshire Society of Genealogists, Kansas Wildlife & Parks Hunter Education Association / Instructor, Marshall Alumni Association, Metropolitan State Alumni Association, and the 310th Bomb Wing Veteran's Historical Association.
Wayne married Gwen Reiff on December 16, 1961 in McPherson, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two children; Christin L. (Eric Carter) Wasson of Topeka, Christopher W. (Michelle) Wasson of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, two grandchildren; Christopher W. Wasson and Caleb M. Wasson and his two brothers; Dannie (Betty) Wasson of Tamworth, New Hampshire and Andrew (Linda) Wasson, Jr. of Missoula, Montana.
Wayne was preceded in death by one sister; Judy (Wasson) Kelley.
Cremation has taken place and private inurnment will take place at a later date.
