Wayne A. Weible, Sr.

Wayne A. Weible, Sr., 72, Auburn, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019 at his home. He is a believer in Jesus Christ.

Wayne was born June 13, 1947 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Harry M. and R. Harriett (Smith) Weible. He graduated from Miami-Jackson High School in Miami, FL in 1965 and graduated Cum Laude, receiving his Bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice from Biscayne College in Miami, FL in 1979.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972 where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and received a letter of commendation from Carrier Air Wing III. He was a plank owner of the USS Saratoga.

Wayne married Grace Beale on October 14, 1965 in Miami Springs, FL. She survives. Other survivors include son, Wayne A. Weible, Jr. and partner, Sandy Twichell, Kansas City, KS; daughter, Katheryn Lansford, Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Patrick M. Weible and partner, Chrystal Chapman, Victoria K. Lansford, Mikayla K. Dixon and husband, Scott, James D. Lansford, Noah L. Weible; great-grandchildren, Jaxson H. Weible and Brady J. Dixon; siblings, Robert D. Weible and wife, Paulette, David H. Weible and wife, Diane, and Jennifer V. Castro; his uncle, L. Darby Smith; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was employed by ATTICO as a clerk and following his military service was employed as an Investigative clerk with the F.B.I. in Miami for 3 years. He served as an officer with the Miami Springs, FL police department for 7 years. He moved to Eureka, KS in 1980, where he owned Reno Hardware until 1983 and also worked part time for the Eureka Police Department and as a Deputy Sheriff with the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office. In 1984, he began working for the Kansas Department of Corrections in Topeka, and finally with the State of Kansas, Alcohol Beverage Control as an Enforcement Agent in 1987, retiring in 2009. During his state employment, he represented the law enforcement unit of the Kansas Association of Public Employees, where he served as a member of the Board of Directors.

He was an Eagle Scout, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #421 in Topeka; a member of Topeka Lodge #17 A.F. & A.M.; and the Arab Shrine. He was a Senior DeMolay from the John B. Orr Chapter in Miami Springs, FL, and a supporter of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls where he was a Master of the Grand Cross of Color.

Cremation has taken place and Graveside inurnment services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
