Wayne White, 85, Topeka, died February 25, 2014 at Midland Hospice House.
Wayne was born August 17, 1928 at Soldier, Kansas, the son of Clyde and Ruby White. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1946.
Wayne was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1950. In 1951 he was called to military duty during the Korean War by the US Army and was discharged in 1953. He returned to Topeka and Goodyear until he retired in 1985.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 400 and a past member of the Topeka Moose Lodge.
Wayne married Marilyn Anderson on November 5, 1950, who survives in Topeka.
He is also survived by daughter, Dorinda White Jones; grandchildren, Lauren Jones, Brendan Jones all of Ashland, Oregon, Jarrod Griggs of Manhattan, Kansas; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl White Griggs in 2003, sister, Marjorie White in 1990, and brother, Keith White in 1991.
Their love of travel took them to over three dozen foreign countries, all 50 states and regular family visits to Oregon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
