Weldon Lee Gray, 68, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the KU Medical Center. He was born March 16, 1947, in Cleburne, Texas, the son of Raymond and Geneva (Gilliam) Gray. He was raised in Covington, Texas and graduated from high school there. He went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1969, earning the rank of SGT.
Weldon was employed as a Boilermaker/Welder with the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring on June 1, 2007.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, of Topeka.
Weldon married Janie Johnson on March 25, 1966 at Covington, Texas. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Chad (Misty); son-in-law, Gary; five grandsons, Travis, Zak, Austin, Kaleb and Lucas; one granddaughter, Abbi (Michael); four great-grandchildren, Hillary, Presley, Ryder and Levi; two sisters, Alice (Jack), Lura (Gerald) and one brother, Robert (Sue).
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne and his beloved daughter, SuZane.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015, at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd. in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to First Southern Baptist Church.
