Wesley L. Jackson, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014. He was born June 27, 1932 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Herman and Annie Turner Jackson.
Wesley had resided in Junction City, KS prior to moving to Topeka in 1981. He was a career Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War before retiring in 1972. Wesley studied with Jehovah's Witnesses and embraced their Bible teachings. He was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Wesley married Christine H. Hardin on May 11, 1957 in Ohio. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Jesse (Jennifer) Hardin of Youngstown, Ohio, Patricia (Wayne, Jr.) Wright of Topeka, three grandchildren, Jesse, Jr., LaTonya and DeVaughn, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one brother, Charles Henry Jackson of Winchester, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2701 S.E. Croco Rd., Topeka, KS 66605.
